The Challenge:

The Austrian Federal Publishing House offers a wide range of school textbooks, digital learning materials, and services for teachers and students. The challenge was to make relevant content and products efficiently and targetedly discoverable — without extensive editorial effort. The existing search was not very fault-tolerant, important information such as ordering or usage conditions could not be linked precisely, and maintaining the content was time- and personnel-intensive.

The Solution:

An AI powered search with semantic understanding, dynamic filters, and automated redirects of service queries to relevant information pages. A specially customized relevance logic links öbv’s expertise with BatteryIncluded’s algorithm. Especially relevant learning materials and content are automatically prioritized and prominently displayed which noticeably enhances the user experience.

    Thanks to targeted optimization of the system architecture, performance at öbv has been significantly improved. The P75 value in the Browse Endpoint consistently stays below 100 ms, and in the Suggest Endpoint below 150 ms. This high speed ensures a smooth user experience with instant responses to filter changes and search suggestions. This not only increases user satisfaction but also boosts the platform’s efficiency.

Especially important textbooks and matching content pages are automatically prioritized and prominently displayed.
